Suggestion for posters, #2

Okay, so I thought I wasn't going to make a big deal out of this. But I have been using both Wednesday and Thursday on these editions:

There is only little difference between these two posters, but it's there.

AFUK Festivitas 2006 - Suggestion for posters

In short, we were asked to make suggestions for posters for this year's Festivitas.
Read more here: http://daftprocessor.blogspot.com/2006/05/afuk-festivitas-project-2006.html
You can read more about my projects for the Festivitas in The Draft Processor. I don't expect to work too much on my suggestions, nor do I expect my suggestions to be chosen.

The Last Rose of Summer

Here's the next drawing. I must say that I overestimated my own ability to draw, but that's how it is.

I don't think I'll be having the time to do more drawings in the Maggie art project before the exhibit, but it might not stop me in the future.

I was suggested to dip the drawing in coffee to make it more old fashioned - what do you think?

The Last Rose of Summer

'Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded an gone;
No flower of her kindred,
No rosebud is nigh,
To reflect her blushes,
Or give sigh for sigh.

I'll not leave thee,
To pine on the stem;
Since the lovely are sleeping,
Go sleep thou with them;
Thus kindly I scatter
Thy leaves o'er the bed
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentles and dead.

So soon may I follow
When friendships decay;
And from love's shining circle
The gems drop away;
When true hearts lie withered,
And fond ones have flown,
Oh, who would inhabit
This bleak world alone!

First one out

Here is the first thing I did in the Magnolia project! I hope it's well received.

Kunstgruppen Magnolia

There is actually an art group called Magnolia!

Arts Across 2006

First post! Oh yes...

Welcome to my blog that has only something remotely to do with photography and writing - this one is actually about art, which may or may not include the elements of writing and photography (and vice versa).

The next project I'm on is exhibiting at Arts Across 2006 - and this is where this blog comes in.The thing is that I will have to check up on things that I don't know will be published as a written piece the way the material in The Draft Processor would. What I write in this blog, The Artsy Fart, might end up in a pamphlet, a brochure, or by the side of one of the pieces I have to make.

The long and the short of it, I have come up with two different crossover projects:
  • Photography/drawing/painting
    Grasping an idea out of the air in desperation, I got the idea of taking one of my recent photographs and paint a cross over it. So litterally, it's a crossover piece. Now I also want to take it onwards and use paint on other pictures.
  • Music/drawing
    Getting inspiration from another picture (a dove on a page of a book in Russian), I got the idea of an angel drawn on a sheet of music. My mind wandered and landed on Magnolia Maize Handly, a little girl who died from SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Children), just barely 2 years old. I have already researched for pictures of the magnolia flower and drafted one drawing, a magnolia flower on a sheet of music from Valse des Anges.

So, my plan is to:

  • Make sketches and actual drawings of Maggie and magnolia flowers on sheet music.
  • Research a little more on magnolia flowers and write a paragraf or two about them.
  • Check up on SUDC and write a paragraph or two about it.
  • Print out the photographs I'll be painting on and paint on them.
  • Perhaps research on Islands Brygge and write a paragraph or two about it.

Good Gracious... And just barely a week to get it done...
